            FOR LINDA

It's one of those days.

Riding my bike on the way home from Thierry, fierce gusts of wind almost stop me dead.
Two magpies swoop down from the big old chestnut tree in front of the building pecking away at a young blue jay that has been abandoned by its parents one day too soon.
I get off my bike, walk up to that cruel scene, the magpies fly away into the chestnut tree, shouting angrily, crows joining in, I walk up slowly to the young blue jay, it flutters away like a butterfly, I follow it until it hides in a hedge. I stand still and listen.

Wind howls, dogs bark, the birds still noisily comment on my presence, in the building a woman is shouting, a child cries, it's a young child, baby, toddler.
I listen. I wait.

The dogs stop barking, the birds quite down, the mother keeps on raging , the little one helplessly sobbing, I say "God?" but she just continues.

The wind picks up even more, the trees are bending down, clouds chasing clouds, keep out of sight blue jay!

It's one of those days..
